Kingstonians A v Sutton United.

A strong team was put into the field by Sutton United against the Kingstonians' A team on Saturday, the former's eleven including Dudley Page, one-time of the Old Kingstonians, and J. Weaver who retains all his wonted skill. The match was played at Sutton, and the visitors, owing to the late arrival of some of the players, were at first not at full strength.

However, on the side being completed the game became very fast, and on several occasions, following good work by Woodward and Edwards the home goal was in danger. Adopting the close passing game the Sutton forwards attacked in their turn, but the opposing defence held out stoutly, Inseal and Tarry especially distinguishing themselves. Shortly before half-time Weaver scored for Sutton with a fine shot.

After the interval Sutton again got going in a determined fashion, but could not at the time add to their score. Subsequently, the Sutton defence were much troubled by the visitors left wing, but although several corners were forced, nothing came of them. Sutton scored later, through their centre forward, and thus won by two goals to nil.

Sutton United v. Kingstenians A.

Entertaining Kingstonians A on Saturday, Sutton United had a powerful team, including Dudley Page, well-known as an old O.K. and now a Crystal Palace player, and J. Weaver, who, by the way, retains all his old dash and cleverness. The result was a win for the United by 2-0.

Owing to the vicissitudes of travelling by train, several of the Kingstonians did not arrive till after the game had started, but when the visitors were at full strength the game took a fast pace. In three attacks Woodward and Edwards combined for the latter to centre in workman-like manner. Two of these were got away with difficulty by the Sutton backs, and the third caused the Sutton goalie some anxiety before he cleared his lines.

At length a miskick by the Kingstonian right back in midfield let Weaver in, and he ran on sturdily and made no mistake. Half-time was soon called, with the score I-0 in Sutton's favour.

On re-starting Sutton pressed in determined fashion, and their left wing was prominent in breaking through, but their attempts to centre were poor in comparison. Corner after corner fell to Sutton without result, and then the Kingstonians' left wing took the game to their opponents' goal. Edward's centre was fastened on by Ayliffe, but his shot was deflected by a Sutton defender, who almost immediately distinguished himself again by clearing twice in as many minutes from his own goal-mouth.

Two corners now fell to the Kingstonians, and a merry scramble ensued in the Sutton goal-mouth. As Sutton retaliated, a partial clearance was effected by the Kingstonians' backs, but the Sutton centre-forward, seizing on a rebound, dropped in a rasping shot, putting Sutton further ahead.

As the Sutton pressure eased, the Kingstonians opened out the game, and Ayliffe put Gibbs into possession with an almost open goal. He. however missed badly. The light was failing, the end came with Sutton swarming round the Kingstonians' goal.
