Report on celebration dinner provided by Three Tuns pub and players leaving Old Kingstonians from Surrey Advertiser dated 6th May 1914.

FOOTBALL.
THE. OLD KINGSTONIANS.

J. G. Cock, the clever young centre-forward, to whose greatly improved play for the Old Kingstonians reference was made in our football retrospect last week, has signed professional forms for Huddersfield. He is only 21, but he appears to be a born footballer and a bright future undoubtedly lies before him. The Old Kingstonians suffer another serious loss by the departure of H. Gibson, their skilful and experienced back, who is also leaving for the North. Gibson, however, is going because he has secured a fresh business appointment at Leeds and next season he will probably be assisting one of the amateur clubs of that city. Cock, by the way, has a retaining fee from the Huddersfield F.C. during the Summer.

The regret felt at the departure of the two popular players mentioned was expressed at a pleasant and informal dinner gathering of the Old Kingstonians F.C. at the Three Tuns Hotel, London-road, Kingston, on Friday evening. This was in celebration of the splendid record established by the club in winning three trophies in one season - the Surrey Senior Cup, the Surrey Charity
Shield and the Southern Suburban League Championship Shield - and was the fulfilment of a sporting offer made by the genial host of the Three Tuns, Mr. Frank Finn, some time ago, when he promised the team that, if they would secure a treble success, he would "stand them a jolly good dinner."

The condition of the offer having been so strikingly observed by the team, Mr. Finn was true to his word and entertained the O.K. players and officials most hospitably, about twenty gentlemen sitting down to a excellent meal. Unfortunately, Mr. D. Judd, the president of the club, was unable to be present and his place in the chair was taken by Mr. J. T. Hallett, S.C.F.A. The evening was spent in convivial fashion and the "Health of Host Finn" was heartily toasted on the proposition of the Chairman. Reference was made by several speakers to the loss of the services of Gibson and Cock, and the best wishes for their future were expressed in cordial terms.
