M.C. FOR LOCAL FOOTBALLER. Surrey footballers will be interested to know that Lieut. Ernest A. Palmer, Middlesex Regt., attached Machine Gun Corps, who has been serving in Mesopotamia for the past two years, has been awarded the Military Cross. Lieut. Palmer was captain of the Old Kingstonians F.C. in 1913-14, their most successful season, when they won three trophies, the Surrey Senior Cup, the Surrey Charity Cup, and the shield of the Southern Suburban League. As centre-half, his play was superb, and he was repeatedly chosen for that position in the county team, while his captaincy of the O.K.'s was exceedingly popular. See report in original format.
