KINGSTON-ON-THAMES v. FERRY WORKS.-
Played on the Fairfield, Kingston, on Saturday, and attracted the largest
attendance this season. The visitors were without four of their best men,
and the home team were thus enabled to give them a far better game than
was anticipated. The first half was very evenly contested, only one goal
falling to the "Works."
During the second half, a rather bad foul occurred through Hall kicking
one of the home half backs (Blackmore). Both players being some distance
from the ball, the referee did not see what really took place, and did
not give the "foul." This excited some of the spectators, who
crowded on to the field of play, and stopped the game for some minutes.
The ground was eventually cleared and the game proceeded.
The "Works" scored two more goals, and won by three goals to
nil. Kaines and Ocock were conspicuous with several good runs for Kingston,
but failed to score.
Kingston: F. Ansell, goal; A. Peck and W. Morfett, backs; J. Baker, J.
Fagan and A. Blackmore, half-backs; Ocock, H. Barnett, H. J. Kaines, H.
Short and A. Compton, forwards. Referee, Mr. J. Henwood.
The Kingston-on-Thames club have scratched both their first and second
team fixtures for to-day as most of the members are desirous of seeing
the Surrey cup tie at Ditton.

In the other Ferry Works,
who were playing without either Harling, Murphy, S. Smith or W. Craig,
got the batter of Kingston-on-Thames by three to one. The home players
gave their formidable opponents a very good game, but the pleasure of
the match was unfortunately marred by an incident that aroused the ire
of a large number of the spectators, and play was stopped for some time
by their crowding on to the field. From that moment to the end there were
frequent outbursts of hooting.

KINGSTON v. FERRY WORKS.
There was a large attendance at the Fairfield, Kingston, last Saturday,
as the Ferry Works,
who are down to meet Weybridge in the third round of the Surrey Senior
challenge Cup,
have a big local reputation amongst other performances of defeating Surbiton
Hill on two occasions this season in order to get into the third round.
The ground was in excellent order, but there was a strong cross wind blowing.
The visitors, like the home eleven, were not strongly represented, and
Kingston started the game with the wind against them them. After about
ten minutes' play Smith scored for his side. The game then became very
fast and exciting, and a few minutes later Kingston scored, but the point
was disallowed for an infringernent of the offside rule. On several occasions
the Works nearly scored but thanks to the home defence their efforts were
frustrated for a time, whilst the home eleven had several shots at goal,
but being of a soft order, the Works custodian had no difficulty in clearing.
No further scoring took place in the opening half, and at the interval
the Works were leading by a goal to nil.
With the wind Kingston did much better, Ocock putting in some good work.
Several corners for the Works followed, and the visitors notched their
second point from a scrummage. The game afterwards got rather rough, and
a foul was given against Hall for kicking Blackmore in the chest, causing
the crowd to invade the field of play, interrupting the game for a few
minutes.
From this point the visitors held the upper hand and Smith put in a shot
which gave Ansell no chance, and the game ended in a win for the Works
by three goals to nil.
