KINGSTON-ON-THAMES
v. LORN.-
Played at Raynes Park, on Saturday and won by the home Club by three goals
to one- Despite the fact that the Kingston Executive have recently scratched
the 2nd XI fixtures for a month, only seven members turned up at Raynes
Park. Four capable substitutes were found and a very fairly contested
game resulted. The score hardly represents the play as Kingston had quite
as much of the game as their opponents and in the second half looked like
pulling the match out of the fire. The resolute tackling of the Lorn backs
however kept them from scoring more than once.
Kingston: A. Parker, goal; W. Morfett and A. N. Other, backs; P. G. Lloyd,
J. Fagan and A. Goodwin, half-backs; W. Hall, and Hutchinson (right),
H. J. Kaines (centre), J. Goodman and A. Friend (left), forwards. Linesman,
W. G. Carn (S.O. F. A.).
Report
from Surrey Comet dated 21 December 1895- see
report in original format.
It is assumed that "A. Friend" is a substitute rather than his
real name and presumed that A. Parker is as well (given the Raynes Park
connection). J. Goodman is assumed to be a real player as a Goodnman did
play for Kingston On Thames in 1890-1891. However given the report mentions
4 substitutes this may be incorrect and it is possible these players may
have been given their proper names anyway.
