KINGSTON
WANDERERS V. ST. MARGARET'S (A). -
The weather on Saturday was all that could be desired, and a considerable
number of spectators turned out to witness what proved to be one of the
most interesting matches of the season.
The visitors were first to attack, and after W. H. Dixon had sent in a
stinging shot that all but beat Lanham, the same player opened the score
within a few minutes of starting. In reply to this the home forwards broke
away and Ocock equalised, and shortly after Goodman scored a second.
Then the visitors attacked in force and after good play by the right wing
and centre Medcalf made the score two all. Shortly before half-time Henton
scored a third for the visitors, and when the teams changed ends the Wanderers
were in a minority of one.
They were in no wise disheartened by this, and playing together in capital
style quickly made things level, Anstey scoring for them. Matters were
now getting exciting and cheers from the spectators greeted Henton when
he once more gave his side the lead, and these were renew with added vigour
when Anstey, after a good run, made the score four all.
From now to the finish the home team peppered away at their opponents'
goal, and shots by Jones and Ocock narrowly missed the mark. No further
score was made, however, and a capital game ended in a draw of four goals
all.
St. Margaret's played a pretty passing game and were very good all round.
The Wanderers were without Borlase, Nott and others but made a very good
show- their passing should be more on the ground, however. Peck and Hurliman
played capitably.

Wanderers v. St. Margaret's.-
One of the best games seen on the Fairfield this season took place on
Saturday between these teams. Both elevens were in goal-getting form,
and the game was hotly contested from start to finish.
St. Margaret's were the first to score, W. H. Dixon putting the ball through
within a few minutes of the start. The Wanderers then retaliated, and
after Ocock had equalised, Goodman placed them one point ahead. This advantage
was not long maintained as after some good work by the right wing and
centre Medcalf put on No. 2 for the visitors. Shortly before half time
Henton gave his side the lead, and the teams crossed over with the score-St.
Margaret's 3, Wanderers 2.
The home team improved considerably during the second half, and Anstey
scored for them, but the visitors were not done with yet and a shot by
Henton once more gave than the lead. The excitement of the spectators
was rising apace, and when Anstey scored a fourth goal for the Wanderers
loud cheers greeted the feat.
From this time the home team had rather the best of it. Jones nearly scored
on two occasions but the visitors managed to keep their goal intact, and
a capital game resulted in a draw of four goals each.
The home side were without Borlase, Nott, Chadwick, and Cousins, but as
a whole played well, though the passing was rather to high at times. The
St. Margaret's played a capital combined game and are a good level lot.

W. Hurliman, G. Whenman, C. Collins (half-backs), W. Ocock, G. W. Jones
