SAXONS
(A Team) V SURBITON ROVERS (a).-
Played at Grove-lane
on Saturday, and won by the Saxons by one goal to nil. The Saxons pressed
throughout and had hard lines in not scoring more. Saxons' team:- F. Chinnery
(goal), R. J. Sivers, J. Bicknell (backs), J. G. Peck, P. Marsh, E. Sayers
(halves), J. Kemp, G. W. Jones (left), W. Wroth (centre), W. Ocock, and
G. E. Bayton (right forwards). The Secretary writes: "Unfortunately
the game was made most unpleasant by the quarrelsome behaviour of some
of the Rovers, who evidently cannot take a beating with that good humour
which is so much needed in football."
