report in original format.Ground Secured for Kingston in Richmond Road. Its Central Position. Immediately following on the very satisfactory news that next season Kingston will have its own senior football club, comes the welcome information that a ground has been secured. For some time past negotiations have been in progress with the Dysart Trustees for the tenancy of that central and very desirable enclosure abutting on Richmond-road, used by Kingstonians for cricket and football for a period approaching half-a-century, and Mr. A. North, who has been appointed secretary of the club which has been formed from what remained of Kingston Town and Old Kingstonians, has now definitely secured the ground for next season. What is now wanted is to get the new club on a substantial financial basis, because it is absolutely essential for the proper conduct of affair that dressing-room accommodation should be provided, and a substantial stand for members of the club. Details of membership have not yet been fully considered, but particulars as to this will be published in the "Surrey Comet."' In the meantime every effort is to be made to get well ahead with the necessary preliminaries, in view of the fact that football now begins on the last Saturday in August, and the following competitions are being entered:- F.A. Cup. Amateur Cup. Surrey Senior Cup. London Senior Cup. Surrey Charity Shield. It is hoped to
secure entry into the Athenian League, and a general meeting of all
interested in this new and very satisfactory development of local winter
sport has been convened for Monday, June 16, at the Three Tuns, London-road,
at 8 o'clock. |
